Dean Mazhawidza provides a professional Career Guidance and
Support consulting practice under Future Pathways Consultants
that use various career exploration activities to help young
people to identify and fulfil their career goals.
Dean holds an Industrial Psychology Master’s Degree from the
University of Western Cape and is a registered psychologist with
the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
He
gained his experience working in the NGO/NPO sector as a Human
Resource Consultant at Western Province Cricket Association,
Sports Skills For Life Skills and Usapho Foundation.
Dean has
assisted student-athletes with career guidance and support by
ensuring they choose the right career path that aligns with
their interest, values, competencies, personalities and motives.
He has worked with clubs, schools and academies like Mark Bryne
High-Performance School with learners from (Curro Century City,
Reddam House Durbanville and Hertzlia High School), South Africa
Cricket Academy, Hellenic Football Club, Bellville Technical
High School, Muizenberg High School, Sports Skills For Life
Skills Schools, Western Province Handball Association Players,
Cape Stars, Hague Primary School, Rosendaal High School,
Beauvallon Secondary, Hector Peterson School, Star College Boys
Bridgetown and Foundation for Sport, Development and Peace.
He
also delivers career guidance programs to churches and he has
worked with Yeshua Ministries youth development.
He has worked with University of the Western Cape Students in
conjunction with the Career Services Department and he has
conducted workshops for the students to get to know themselves
and prepare for their upcoming careers in various industries.
He
is also associated with Caldwell University in the United States
of America where he recruits student-athletes to study and play
sports for the University. His passion for sports and education
has helped a lot of students to get opportunities in America,
India and South Africa. Before qualifying as a psychologist, he
played cricket for Zimbabwe under 19 World Cup team as a
batsmen-wicket-keeper who went to New Zealand in 2010. After the
world cup, he played a few games for Mashonaland Eagles and he
was granted a scholarship to study and play cricket at the
University of Western Cape with Sports Skills For Life Skills
(SS4LS).
He is also a qualified Level 2 Cricket Coach (Cricket
South Africa). He has coached cricket at Reddam House Atlantic
Sea Board College and Bellville Technical High School. Dean
Mazhawidza has a passion for sport and youth development. His
vision is to create a competent youth society. Due to the high
global youth unemployment and poverty in developing countries.
Future Pathways Consultants was created by its founder, as an
innovative private enterprise that direct youths who do not know
what they want to do with their lives after completing high
school or tertiary education. Which has contributed to the
significant low enrolment levels in colleges, universities and
later results in unemployment.
The consulting service allows young people to take fun and
interactive assessments that will help them identify their
skills, interests, subject/degree choices, competencies, values,
abilities, strengths, passions and career choices. This will
help them to gather relevant information to make an informed
career decision.
